Cranky Librarians

Do you guys have em too? My school's library has the WORST librarians ever. Extremely anal people who kick people left and right for no reason and who most likely hate children (and probably books too; they're just random people from who knows where hired to sit there and be a ***). You can't do a freaking math problem without feeling the threatening stare of this hostile 200 lb, buff beast (I *you not). And I dunno if it's just my school, but they force everyone to hang up their bags (easily reaching 100 sometimes) on these racks at the front door. So whenever you need to get something or put something away, you have to go all way to the front, remove every bag on the rack, find your bag, do your business, stick your bag back on, then grab every bag that you had to take off to get to your bag and stick them back on. I even saw one of the librarians see a bag that was barely hanging onto the rack knock it off and throw it outside because it was "in violation" -.-

Wow, can you talk to your administration? My old school’s librarian wasn’t the nicest, but she was tolerable.
She would scream at people with food and drinks and would kick people out for talking. Other than that though, she seemed decent:)

Nah, luckily our school librarian is really chill. No eating and no excessive yelling, those are pretty much the only two rules. We’ve even got a pretty big tv hanging on the wall that was donated by a student who won it in an online high school sports blog contest thing and plenty of working computers.

A lot of people hang out at the library before school and during lunch and breaks. SportsCenter is always on.

That’s pretty crazy behavior from your librarians. My school’s librarian is pretty annoying but it’s mainly over things like not talking too much or not eating in the library. He has a rule that only 2 people can sit at each 4 person table, but I guess it is true that study hall in the library could get as loud as the cafeteria before he made that rule. I feel like he doesn’t do much though, other than help people when they can’t figure out how to save a file. But the two library secretaries that we have are really nice and they’re usually pretty relaxed about things.

^^That’s odd that you have a TV in your library. One would think that people would get upset with the noise.

Talk about librarians, so I was in a group of 30 kids working together on a take home math test and we started getting extremely loud and the librarians started to give us the death stare.haha. That’s about it. Then we left.hahaha.

^^ No lol, it’s actually very noisy in our library. Usually people will pick a place out in a hallway or on a bench outside if they need to do some quick studying. In terms of studying, the library is good for finding a group of friends to help you finish your homework and for printing out that last minute essay.

There are also monthly magazines and daily newspapers that students read. It’s more of a place to hang out and do homework than it is to study seriously.

O ok, very nice:) It’s more of the opposite at my old school. That’s awesome that you get to do that though.

Yea, we have a TV too. We have two floors, the top one is smaller though and rarely used. We have a bunch of computers as well and it’s used basically for the same reason as Aero’s. Though sometimes it can get quiet, it all depends on the time of day.

One librarian at my school sneaks around so I find it hard to eat ma food. Also, she always says shhh even when we are only whispering.

wow my school librarians are really nice. I guess it is a compensation for having such a crancky counselor

One of them is nice, but the other yelled at me for playing a game on the library computer when I was actually working on a powerpoint presentation

Mapleleafs, exact same thing happened to me at my school!!

It was weird. I didn’t want to get in trouble so I just minimized it until she went and did something else, but then the other one saw that it was a powerpoint and she was like “he’s working on a presentation” so yeah

I don’t think old people will ever get used to presentations that have color schemes

I’ve never met a nice librarian

Would you be happy if you were a school librarian? It’s just like you can’t expect the people at the DMV to be particularly sociable.

We have one really nice librarian and one who is known for being absolutely mean… she’s gotten better this year, though. It used to be that she would yell at you/throw you out if you had more than 4 people per table/did not talk at a whispering decibel level/she didn’t like you. I swear, there were some groups of kids who were very loud, yet she decided to ban another group from the library for a week.

I think my librarians are pretty nice, actually.
