I applied on a whim too at the last moment (first time i have heard about USC was around in november or so;;) My mind was set on mostly Austin or NYU but neither of those worked out so great and USC was the first one who sent me the news (and also gave me nice sum of money)

Just be happy about whereever u are going for now. I don't see the point of being miserable if u are going to have to go anyways.

and about graduate school... i know somebody who got into yale and stanford on a full ride from some oklahoma school... so don't worry too much.

Tsdad,
Sorry, I think I worded my sentence wrong. Isn't getting INTO graduate school from a large research university very difficult?

I still don't understand why you think that. Did you mean "at" rather than "from?"

Most graduate schools programs are in large research universities so how could coming from major research universities like USC or UCB or UCLA hurt you when you are applying to a graduate program? Going to a large research university at the undergraduate level would offer you a susbtantial number of opportunities both in terms of the number and types of courses that are available, and the availability of world famous professors and asubstantial numbers of research opportunities.

Am I totally misunderstanding what you are saying?
