You're so effing lucky! I got waitlisted at WUSTL and rejected by Duke and Rice. =\ If I could pick between them, I think I'd go for Duke just because of its prestige, plus its campus is to die for. Then again, I haven't visited Rice, so I don't know. WUSTL was a little too cold for me. I want to study pre-med, and they all have great programs for that focus, but I don't know what you plan on studying.

Hey guys, stop bashing the OP. CC threads are for HELPING people get into or choose their schools, so if you want to complain instead of help, go away. And for those of you who are complaining that you're not going to get in anywhere, you're probably wrong. And if you're not, you should have applied to realistic places, like the OP obviously did. Don't hate him for being good enough to get into top schools.

On the note of the thread, however, I don't really know enough to help you too much. I like Rice (I got waitlisted though...so congrats!), and it's a nice, pretty, traditional looking campus in the middle of Houston, so you get the best of both worlds. Wash U, on the other hand, I don't like so much just because of the way they try to inflate their stats. But I really don't know anything about it besides that and the fact that they sent me a lot of mail that I ignored, so sorry I can't be too much help!

If star_girl hadn't reminded me that this forum is for helping people, I might say that you're extraordinarily insensitive for phrasing your situation -- dilemma?! -- the way you did. I might suggest that maybe you don't even want people's opinions on where to go, since how on earth could they know which of those two great schools suits you better. I might even say that you posted this to see how "I got into Duke and Rice!!!!" looks when typed by your own luckless hand. "Wow, guys, I wish I had no legs like you. Having legs means I have to walk everywhere and my feet get tired."

...But since that wouldn't be helpful, I'll just say congratulations. I hope you resolve this problem as quickly as possible.

Duke or Rice.

Everyone who needs to make a decision between School A or School B, just do this. If you believe in Fate, then this will decide your future. Flip a coin. That simple. Assign School A to heads and School B to tails. Now flip the coin. Bam! There goes your future. If you believe in God or Fate or Destiny or any of that, it CANT steer you wrong.

What? you don't like choices? Just have your someone choose for you

wow, what an unfortunate predicament

basically you sound like
SHIIIT! I JUST GOT INTO HARVARD YALE AND PRINCETON! OH NO

just enjoy the fact that you've gotten into some very good schools
and remember that washu skews its numbers and waitlists people to drive its acceptance rate down and boost its us news ranking...must be a great school
i'd go for duke, but definitely visit the schools and choose based on what you think is most important

First, be happy that you have so many great options to choose from and that you have several options with which you would be happy. It's okay to feel frustrated by having to make a tough decision, but realize that you'll probably be successful wherever you go.

Visiting all the campuses is a must if possible. Sometimes when you visit a campus you just get that feeling that it's the perfect fit. See if there's some special day for accepted applicants to visit and attend it if at all possible. Talk to students, professors, anyone and get an idea of what life is like at the campus. An overnight visit is also an option. Things like this can eliminate some options immediately based on your preferences.

Just learn as much as you can about each school's life, campus, and feel. That will likely narrow down, if not make, you decision for you.

Good luck!

hey, i really have a similar situation as you too, being waitlisted by duke, accepted by northwestern,GaTech,UIUC and rejected by rice. i am quite determined to study civil&environ' engineering, so maybe Gatech is the best choice.

Another showoff thread... sigh...

Unless finances are not an issue at all, once financial aid packages arrive, the situation might become more clear cut.

uhhh. no offence and sorry if i sound rude...but dont u think its way better getting accepted at more schools than getting rejected at the schools you want to go to. seriously, just be happy you're in. its a great list of colleges and either way it depends on what is important for you personally at these schools. congrats dude
