Crap Stats?? Do I Have A Chance??

My only goal is to get into a UC. (preferably SD or SB)

I have a 10-12 GPA of 3.80 unweighted

My SAT II's : Lit = 630
USH = 690

AP scores = US = 3
Psych = 3

ACT score = 25

Cal resident, Eagle Scout

do i got a shot?

3.8 Unweighted is good. ACT of 25 is not. SATII's aren't too hot either...

You probably could get into a place like Riverside or Santa Cruz, though. I'd suggest taking the SAT's again. But, you should realize, the Math IIC is required when applying to colleges, so you need to take that.

There are 2 SAT test dates coming up: October 14th and one in November. I'd register for both...the SAT Reasoning in October, and the SATII's in November. Your scores should be in before the UC application due date.

Best of luck to you!

I'd say you can get into a UC. I'll let someone else answer in more detail.

You're a slight reach for UC Santa Barbara, extreme reach for UC San Diego.

confused_student, math IIC is NOT required to get into a UC.

up that ACT score or take SATI and you definitely have a shot.

Are you sure about that? I know they used to require Writing, Math IIC, and then one other SATII for the UC's...I assumed now that Writing was incorporated into the SAT Reasoning, they would still require the Math IIC.

Any two SAT II tests are all that are required. There is no requirement to take SAT II Math IIC. The links giving the requirements are here (the second link is the one that is most clear on the tests you must take):

Here it states:
"Two SAT Subject Tests.
These must be in two different areas, chosen from the following: English, history and social studies, mathematics (Level 2 only), science or language other than English."

Also, electriclunch, your stats are hardly as advertised in your thread title. 3.8 GPA is poor????--since when? And your ACT score of 25 is the equivalent of 590/590 on the SAT CR+M sections (1180/1600), when as we all know 1000/1600 is average. As a California resident only a 3.0 GPA and average ACT score of 20 is required to get into the lowest of the UC campuses (Merced). And the only reason Merced is ranked low is because it opened a mere one year ago. Every other UC campus ranks as one of the top 40 public universities in the country--and I'm sure Merced will be similarly ranked in the very near future.

eagle scout? impressive.

electriclunch:

UCB/UCLA: Reach
UCSD: Slight Reach
UCI/UCSB/UCD: Match
UCSC/UCR/UCM: Safe Match

Thanks for all your help guys = )
