All of them, FAFSA and whatever else there is.

January 5 for the application materials, EVERY BIT OF IT including the College Application and the copy of your 2007 federal income tax return, CSS Profile, etc.
Only the FAFSA is due later (April 15th)

Oh ok. Thanks.

playhacker; The formal deadline on the Cornell site shows as January 1. Why do you say January 5?

honestly, fin. aid has nothing to do with admissions. last year, i didn't finish my fin aid application until early march (i had most of it in - ie: FAFSA, parent's tax forms, etc. i just forgot to give in my personal tax return/letter saying that i didn't file one)

It says that applications submitted after the date will still be considered so that means I can send it Feb 1 and they would have no problem? That doesn't sound right...

there's a significant chance that if you were on the border of being offered fin aid vs. not offered, that if you hand it in late, you won't be offered as much/any fin aid.

i didn't really bother because i know that my family would have been expected to pay all of my tuition since i already get reduced for being an in-state student at CALS.

Its confusing because January 1 is sort of a preferred deadline for Cornell. But here is what they say on their website under RD:
"The deadlines listed exist in order to provide you with a timely notification of your aid decision. Applications received after the deadline will still be considered for all forms of financial aid, and will be processed as soon as possible."

What really upsets me is how the College Board's "My Colleges" shows Cornell's financial deadline to be February 11. That is misleading in the extreme. And the College Board is the site where you need to fill out the CSS Profile.

So, best bet would be to get on it right away it seems.

wait i'm confused
whats due on january 1st?
i thought you can't even complete the FAFSA until after Jan 1?

My booklet says January 5th for Cornell Financial Aid Application, A copy of your tax return of 2007, and CSS profile.
The PDF timetable they had before said January 4th for Financial Aid Application and A copy of your and your parents’ 2006 federal income-tax returns, including W-2s.
CSS is February 15
FAFSA is February 15–May 1
I dunno how you want to look at it, but you shouldn't even be waiting til the last minute to do these things. You are suppose to turn everything in as fast as you can, if you seriously want to get into college with financial aid. You'll regret it if you don't.

My circumstances haven't exactly afforded me the luxury of doing everything super fast though. I just want to know there is still time.
