long story short- i got an F on my Government final. it brought my grade from an A to a C+, and on my mid- year report Cornell will see that I received an F. how high are the odds that I WON'T get rescinded?

I don’t understand why the midyear report would show an F if your grade in the class was a c+

@bananafreak2u because there’s a column for “final grade” as in the grade on the test, even though the final tests just get averaged in for semester classes

You’re fine. They’re not going to rescind you for something like that. Just don’t make a habit of it.

How did you get an F if you did well on all of the previous tests?

If you were accepted Early Decision, I beleive you are not required to send a mid-year report, only a report at the end of the school year.

@Saugus it was an F on the final exam

^
I know that. I was asking why you suddenly got an ‘F’ if you had been getting all 'A’s up until that point. Even if you didn’t study for it at all, you should still have at least passed.

^ I reiterate Saugus’ sentiments. How do you manage to pull off an F when you have an A in the class? Even if you don’t study and don’t try, at least you can pull of a high C or even low B…

From what I see, I get the impression that you really didn’t get the A in the class YOURSELF. Possibly ulterior methods…such as cheating, perhaps??

@SwedishM8 @Saugus i failed because i misread the directions and i omitted the wrong part of the writing assignment. i had a 90% for the multiple choice but a 0% for the writing and that somehow, in the points, came out to a 59% overall.

You may get an awkward letter explaining that Cornell isn’t happy about seeing a low grade on your transcript. Since your overall course grade is not failing, I wouldn’t think Cornell will go so far as to rescind you.

You don’t have to submit a mid year report so they won’t even know. U can calm down now (fellow EDer)

Don’t want to burst your bubble, but you actually do have to submit a mid year report even if you applied ED. I called and asked because I wasn’t sure either.

^^^^
Just explain that to them if they ask. It’s not like you got a ‘D’.

okay thank you guys so much… my teacher today said that i can write an essay to get averaged in to the grade so it will go away.

thanks guys <3

I was in a similar situation as you: I went from an A to a C and failed the second semester of one of my classes after EDing here (I literally just did not go to that class). Cornell never asked and I never got rescinded. You should be fine as well.
