I don't want to go into details here, but I've been pretty sick all semester, and I'm going
to probably have to take my chem 241 final after winter break (being that I've been out
of class for about four-five weeks now and there's probably no chance in hell I can catch up with the material). Does this constitute an incomplete?

i'm pretty sure that it does for this semester, and will convert to a regular grade after you take the final in january

i think this happened to my friend who broke his writing arm before finals, and couldn't get the scribe services to work out - except he had to wait all summer

but, to be sure, ask the college office / your advisor

Assuming you've talked to the professor and you have permission to take the make-up exam after the Winter break, then chances are yes, you will get an I which will the convert to a normal grade after you take the final. But you must make sure this is the case with the professor - he is the one who ultimately gives you the grade (I or anything else).
