Crap

Well, I knew it was going to happen. I was waitlisted for a chem class to satisfy my physical science requirement to transfer. The class isn't going to work, so I enrolled in environmental science instead. Problem is I put down chem in all my updates. I can't believe it.

So what do I do? Email them or call them? Or what? It's not a pre req class for Berkeley, but it is for UCLA (I'm a psych major)

You’ll be alright, just call them and figure out what you need to do. I doubt you’ll be penalized for those circumstances. I’m a Psych major too, so I feel your pain. Here are the numbers and e-mail adresses:

Berkeley: (510) 642-3175

UCLA: (310) 825-3101
ugadm@saonet.ucla.edu

Hope it helped, and I wish you luck man! Which school do you prefer btw? I’m jw. I lean to Cal, but I do like UCLA and Davis too.

thanks man! I’m just like you. I applied to Berkeley as a first choice, UCLA, and Davis as a back up. What are you stats?

lol awesome! Sorry I didn’t get back to you until now; I hadn’t seen your response until today. Wow, I think you’re the first person I’ve ever met with Psych and my same campus priorities.

My stats are like this:

3.74 UC GPA.
CCC student (Norcal).
Major: Psych (Applied Phil to Cal but will be switching if/when I get there). Wrote that I want to double major in my PS…not sure if that will hurt me though.
EC’s: 120 hours volunteering at an elderly assisted living center, 25 hours (volunteer) tutoring kids, 3 part-time jobs, sociological research project.
Personal Statements: Solid. 8/10.
Upward trend: Great! (Which should really help for Berkeley). 1.0 first semester (thank god academic renewal) -> 4.0 in 18 units last semester.

And yeah those are pretty much my stats.

How about you? What area of Psych most interests you? Are you interested in grad or med school? Let me know, it’s great hearing from someone on here with very similar interests.

haha? a 1.0 first semester?! Glad you turned that around.

4.0 UC GPA.
CCC student (Souther California).
Major: Psychology perhaps minor in English
EC’s: Work a whole bunch, tutor at my college’s writing center, write some articles for the local newspaper.
Personal Statements: Decent. 8/10.

I’m also applying to Cornell, Brown, and Stanford. You apply anywhere other than the UC’s?

And, I’m actually interested in law school. I wanted to go the pre-med route, but decided that organic chemistry can suck it. How about you?

Interesting, I used to be an English major and then switched to psychology. I just wasn’t passionate enough for English I suppose. I think I’m actually just sticking with the UC’s. I considered Cornell, but they want SAT’s for the Psych major, and I never took it. I’m pretty confident I would do well though. Stanford and Brown, I think, are too exclusive for my stats lol.

You have extremely impressive stats. If you don’t mind me asking, how come you didn’t go to a top university straight out of high school? I really disliked high school and was doing poorly lol. Community college seems to exclude alot of the busy work and keep it pretty straight-forward, and that’s conducive to my style of learning.

Awesome, I’ve considered law school as well. Currently I’m debating between med school and grad school and getting my ph.D in psychology. My interests (writing, teaching, research, projects) all coincide with grad school, but if I go to med school I could become a psychiatrist and (probably) make more money. I absolutely despise calc and O chem though lol. I’ll figure things out, but it will take time. For now, I’ll just focus on getting into one of my top UC’s and then I’ll go from there.

Oh and ideally out of all of the universities that you applied to, where would you like to go the most?
