As the semester (or at least my semester) draws to a close, I fear that I might end up with 2 B's on my transcript. Will this kill any hopes of getting into a top university?

In the greater scheme of things, the two B's actually don't have much of a negative impact on my cumulative UW GPA (brings it down by about .02) and actually raises my UW GPA (W/ 2 B's, it's actually a 4.6 which is higher than my cumulative UW, 4.3), but from what I understand, the fact that I actually did not perform optimally in two classes in my most crucial year really detracts from my overall application.

How will it look if those two B's became A's by second semester? I believe that this is something that I can actually manage.

Also, should I consider sending a supplemental letter explaining my poor grades to adcoms when I apply, while doing poorly is un-excusable, I feel like I at least need to explain myself. Would this be wise?

Thank you in advance for your feedback.

Dude, chill out. It is only 2 B’s. You dont need to explain anything. Just bring your grade up to an A.

That’s the problem, I’m pretty sure I’m stuck with the B’s for this semester.

Is it happen to be a very tough teacher, and give very few As?

What if you got an F in an AP class for one nine weeks but your overall semester grade is a C? And your overall GPA is UW 3.7 W 3.9? I know I messed up but I know next semester if all goes well my GPA will move to a 4.7 W and 3.9 UW

One of them is to a hard class (AP Econ)
the other one is in precalculus, I’ve never really been good at math, and this year I got a teacher widely regarded as one of the worst in my school.

As funny as that is, I’d still like to know how this semester’s grades are going to impact my chances.

I am a junior getting two Bs too. VERY upset. I’m trying for selective colleges, and I messed up.
But life goes on. Mine are in AP classes, so I’ll just prepare well for the AP exams. And don’t waste a valuable essay on grades. It’s worthless and might even hurt.

And getting As second quarter WILL help. It shows that you don’t give up. Don’t worry.
:)

I have two 72’s (two D’s) and one C on my transcript. Life goes on! The D’s were from freshman year, but the C was from junior year.

2 Bs is not going to affect you. Especially if you bring up your grades next semester, though I don’t think it matters if you’re at a competitive school. I never got all A’s (always at least one B+) and I got into Georgetown, so imperfect grades do not destroy your chances.

I would like to have @ least two B’s on my transcript. I got a C in AB Physics my freshman year. My first. I was so shaken by this I didn’t know what to do. But I learned that one or two grades won’t destroy you, it helps you seek improvement. Sure, colleges like to see ECs and AP’s etc, they also like to see improvement. :)

Well my problem is non-existent My 51 moved to a 63 and my semester grade averages out to a 75 looks like I won’t be kicked out of NHS after all and my GPA is saved.
