So I’ve been doing the british curriculum and I mostly got As and Bs at my IGCSEs
and Im also doing my Al-evels this year and Im planning on doing the ACTs or SATs
Naturally , in the UK they dont look at your school grades but they look at your A-levels only(And sometimes IGCSEs but thats mostly top-notch schools) so I wasnt really worried about my school grades
The thing is , My school grades are crap but Ive done Northwestern University courses in mass communication , Virginia Commonwealth art courses with certificates , and I mostly spent my school year taking courses and classes outside of school since I just wanted to get a certificate saying that I attended school while I skipped most of it and I was kinda homeschooled and took classes and courses outside of school(all my grades are Fs , Cs, etc at school and no GPA since its british)
So i wanted to ask if they might accept my IGCSEs rather than my school grades since if they looked at my school grades it would be an automatic rejection lol
Or do they just look at ACT and school grades(GPA) like a normal american applicant even if you’re applying as an international studen ?
Im currently really interested in the University of Minnesota Twin Cities.
Happymomo , most college international admission offices are very unhelpful and some will just tell me “we look at your GPA” and that sort of thing but my school doesnt even offer it(gpa is more of an american thing) or they dont even know whats an IGCSE.(the carnegie mellon admission officer kept on saying that he wants my GPA and SAT scores and i’m like ‘dude we dont even d that in here’)
I mostly feel like they just choose it randomly with no specific requirements.
The people who answer the phones tend to be students hired for the admission season.
You may email the international rep if his/her email appears on the website, asking if for students in British-patterned schools sending IGCSE results + actual AS results + predicted A Level results would be sufficient, considering you don’t have a GPA.
