I don't particularly enjoy living with roommates--most are immature, loud, and inconsiderate, from my past experiences--but unfortunately my budget is limiting me a lot.

Part of it is probably just me--I like having the place to myself, not sharing it, etc. But if the place is old and tiny, is it worth it?

It really depends on you. If you really hate having roommates, then go for the studio. Or you could try finding roommates that AREN’T loud and obnoxious, which would probably be your best bet.

Personally, I would go for a shared apartment, but then again, I think I would get pretty lonely living by myself.

If you have your own room, a nicer shared apartment seems like a better option in my opinion, but of course it all comes down to you. Many roommates could be really nice. Why not try sharing an apartment (with your own room so you can get space) with some friends that you know? That way you’ll know some of their habits and it’s less random. Not your best friends because that’s a recipe for disaster, but people you are friendly with and know their habits.

Yeah, I was thinking about my own room being a better option in a shared apartment–but hell, I hate having roommates. Actually, I’m living in a shared apartment with a friend and a few people I don’t know that well–and hope never to know well, ever.

Long story short, the friend is a bit too attached for me–I like my independence more than he does. But again, I’m really independent, so this is my problem, not his.

The other two are hell. And we were hoping the co-ed room would actually improve things. Oh well.

How exactly do you find acquaintances, rather than friends, to share an apartment with? Craigslist doesn’t seem safe.
