Hello there, I have an issue and need to make a decision. First, here are some examples of the more "selective" schools I plan to apply to: Tufts, Colgate, Cornell, Wash U, Northwestern, Claremont Mckenna, NYU...Okay, here is the CRAZY (the crazy was just to draw attention to the thread...sorry) predicament. My SAT scores are as follows: M 650 V 750 W 750. My ACT scores are: C: 32, Eng:28 M:30 R:35 S:33, and finally my SAT II's are: Math IC: 620 US Hist: 640 and Spanish: 660. When looking at my scores I see some issues: The first being my SAT Math score, the second being...all of my SAT II's. My problem is that I plan to apply ED to one of these more selective schools and was planning on re-taking the SAT's in October (have only taken them once so far), but now that I have my SAT II's I realize those are more of a pressing issue (or are they? how much weight do colleges actually put on SAT II's...would it be in my best interest just to retake the SAT or leave everything as is? Are my SAT II's so bad that I should be willing to devote a lot of time and effor this summer to preparing for some more?). My question is...do I have a chance at all at any of those schools now with my horrendous SAT II's. My problem is this, even the schools in that list that do NOT require the SAT II's will now see them once I send my SAT's, but I would like to send my SAT's because I feel they are pretty good and balance out my ACT's well (did well on math and sciences on one, english and verbal on the other). Now, one would think that I should just send my ACT's to the colleges that do not require the SAT II's or reccomend them or has them as optional, but I would like these schools to see those two 750's...I plan to re-take the SAT II's in October (do I have to retake the same ones or can I try others...?) and, worst case scenario, I do not do all that much better am I completly screwed? Oh, also, in regard to colleges that I apply to that have SAT II's as optional or reccomended, if I send my SAT's and they see my SAT II's is there any way I can convey to them that I would rather have them treat my "score bank" from the college board as if I had never taken the SAT II's or have I basically screwed myself at colleges that don't even require the SAT II's as they will now see them no matter what (or are they really that important even if I can not tell them to not look at them?) Okay, I realize I have rambled a lot and probably have not made any sense, therefor I do not care if your response rambles, or for that matter, addresses each and every question, you probably have the gist of what my concern is and if you could just...I don't know, "discuss" what you think about my issue in general or even answer my questions it would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

bump.......

Yeah, you were hard to understand but I'll help. What you have to keep in mind is that the importance of standardized test scores are decreasing. (Underline decreasing) Many colleges, especially the top tier should be able to overlook your lower math score. (It also depends on your intended major) Same goes for the subject tests. Your transcript trumps all!

I would hardly say this predicament is crazy, or at all worthy of having all caps. pretty run of the mill if you ask me.
