Crazy Retake stratergy

Hey guys,
My present stats
SAT verbal (760); math (720)
SAT IIs - Math2C (740); Writing (790); Physics (710)
(Appllying to M&T/ wharton but the single degree is my real focus…where i hope i have a chance…)

I’m planning to retake my SAT Is in Jan…I think my verbal score is decent, so im going to concentrate on preparing for the math section…(basically i will wing the verbal on the test date)
I might end up doing bad on my verbal this way (and also maybe math…if i screw up again)…
I’ve heard that Penn takes the Best Verbal and Best MAth from differnt test dates and adds them together…So will this stratergy work…or will lower SAT scores (esp. the verbal might suck) from my jan retake hurt me…
Thank you in advance…

You don't need to retake, you already have a solid score.

This should work, but Penn might become suspicious if you get like a 500 Verbal.

500 verbal, sounds like me

okay, so as long as i dont slack it tooo much (keep it above verbal 650) this stratergy should work fine? Also, It looks like i'm not going to get too much practice/ study time as im really busy with school...is it better for me not to take it then, or should i give a shot either way...cuz "officially" only the best score matters

since your scores are sent in already (or they should be), penn wont see the new scores unless you choose to report them....retake, see your scores, then decide whether to show penn....its a safe strategy as long as you already sent penn your testing history

Oh...How do I not show them to penn...I've already indicated them in my 4 choices of where the scores will be reported...can I still change them....?
Also, on a side note...will my "relatively" lower IIC score (740) and Physics (710) score hurt me...Should I be testing those instead...because I can only improve my SAT I math score, most probably the verbal will be lower?

You know I don't think that your verbal score will go down that much. You can loose your math skills pretty quickly, but I think that once you do well in verbal you won't slip too much. But that's just me. And a 720 math is pretty solid.

more opinons please....please answer both the questions
1.How do I not show the scores to penn.
2. Should I be testing twos instead

yes you can still change your colleges. just go to cb's website and your registration sheet. so leave our penn and rush it when you get your scores back.

this is a toss up. either way is fine. this is just me speaking but i don't think you need to retake. your scores are only a little bit lower than what your goal probably is. they may not make you stand out score-wise but i don't think that they'll be what keeps you out of penn. retaking one will leave you with lower scores in the other. though if you're dead set on retaking, i'd go for the twos, considering you're applying to the m&t. gl

my attitude towards M&T right now is like....meh...maybe i'll get in...if i do great...My actual main focus is single-degree wharton...I want to maximize my choices for that one...So would my low physics SAT II be bad even if its just for Wharton....because if it isnt then basically my retake choice comes do to a choice between improving one of two things....
SAT I Math (720) and SAT II Math IIC (740) (that is if physics isnt that important)...Then which one is it more important for me to retake to improve...SAT I Math or II math.....

p.s. I've decided to do some retake for sure...already reg. and paid

bump...tormorrow is the last day for me to switch from SAT I to II if i have to..help..comment..

I would go with 2c. It shows more of the higher level math skills and penn says that if you're applying to wharton, they prefer a math subject test, which imo indicates a slightly greater emphasis on the twos. plus, the percentile for the 2c score is lower than the percentile for the reasoning score.

hmmm...bump

hey a-bomb, are you Alvin Ho from Toronto, Canada? I think I know you...PM back
