Create your own school

Create your own (ideal?) prep school! We're all getting nervous about acceptances; let's take our mind off of it. If anything is written in parenthesis in the description, it means what the idea is based off of.

Some things to consider:
1.) co-ed or single sex
2.) boarding, day, or mix?
3.) location
4.) who would you have teach?
5.) sports/arts facilities
6.) admission process

I'd create a school called Green Academy. It would serve grades 9-12 co-ed all boarding. The Academy would have one main campus in the New England area with about 2000~ acres(SPS). The area would have a lake, forest, and a farm.

Half days on Wednesdays and Saturdays. No required study hall. Students are expected to budget their time correctly. However, after 8 PM, it is quiet hours. You can do whatever you want, but it must be quiet. Check-in for freshmen = 8 PM, sophomore = 9 PM, juniors = 10 PM, and seniors = 10:30 PM. After 8 PM students cannot wander around campus. They must be inside a school building. Security peeps will patrol the area 24/7.

The architecture of buildings for humanities would be hardwood floors, chandeliers, white walls and ivy grown exteriors. There would also be a Great Lecture Hall with rows and rows of raised platforms (L'vill). The speaker would be at the very center and bottom. The science building would be very tall and be almost completely glass with the option of remote control tints to control the sun. I like the natural light. There would be three floors, each floor being about 25 ft~ high. The roof would have an observatory. The third floor would be biology. Second floor chemistry. First floor physics. Math would have it's own building similar in style to science, but not as large.

There would be an enclosed hockey rink, swimming pool, basketball gym, tennis courts, and soccer gym. I'd like the gyms to be in normal gym style, but then open up on side into an enclosed glass space. Sort of like a patio. A boat house would be by the lake. A cross country trail and a biking trail would also be created.

As for the arts, there would be a separate building for fine arts and performing arts. It would be in the style of the humanities buildings. The performing arts would have a large theatre with balcony seating and a film studio with the option to build sets. I'd get in some really nice cameras and filming equipment for that.

The library is going to be the biggest. thing. ever. I want it to be absolutely huge with lots of places to sit and study. I hate waiting for a desk to open up so there will be lots of room for that. I imagine dark, hardwoods with stained glass lamps (Andover) in the study, but lots of long windows for other areas. Also, since I expect all teachers to be fully boarding, there would be a good selection of children's' books.

My Coup de gr

And I’d have a summer program with the only requirement being submit an essay. It can be anything under 1000 words. Students who do exceptionally well in the summer program will be offered a spot for the fall term.

Wow! This is great. I actually read the whole thing without getting bored! LOL

I spend too much time thinking about this stuff. I forgot history. I think if a student wants to, they can take an extra class as an EC or do a self study whenever.

Just my idea of a perfect school (for me). I just want a gaming academy so bad that also has everything good. Le sigh.
