So, oddly enough, this is my first time having a cold in college, and I have absolutely nothing to medicate this stupid cold with. I don't even own a box of kleenex. I have absolutely nothing.

So, it got me thinking, I should create a little box of things for when I get sick.

I was thinking the basics:

Decongestant
Cough Syrup
Cough Drops
Kleenex
Tea Bags
Honey
those Campbell's chicken noodle soup in the cup things

What am I missing? What do you guys do when you're sick at school?

Well, I wouldn’t put it in the kit, but I’d eat plenty of tangerines or oranges. If I have a throbbing headache or whatever I just pop some tylenol or motrin. And if I am having trouble sleeping (while sick) I just use NyQuil.

You need something for fevers and headaches. An ointment that prevents infection and band-aids for little cuts. If your ever get the stomach flu (which is more rare) you will wish you have something like Imodium and Emetrol. If you have ecezma, hardly go anywhere without cortaid.

Cough drops and Vitamin C drops
NyQuil
Tylenol
Eye drops
Zyrtec
Tissues
Hand sanitation
band aids/neosporin

These things usually keep me pretty healthy during the year but I still get sick like 2 or 3 times which is much less than when I am at home. Also depending on where you go to college just make sure you dress appropriately for cold weather.

been commuting on a bike in the cold since August. Haven’t been sick and don’t expect to be. But then again, I’m actually getting sleep this semester…

Sleep and exercise are a winning combination.

But if that’s not plausible, a cough suppressant and a box of napkins should do you just fine. Maybe Vitamin C cough drop, but those never really work on me

Well, I don’t get sick much (and it usually only happens when I’m sleep-deprived or stressed) but the only thing I really need for my annual cold is some really good cough drops.

Apart from that, I have some Tums, some Ibuprofen and a couple bandaids. I haven’t really wanted anything else during my two and a half years of college so far. Then again, I’ve never been a person who medicates for colds or gets sick much in general.

I’m a music major with my voice being my primary instrument. I also have occasional stomach issues.

I have
Hall’s cough drops (cherry are the best, imo)
Vick’s Vapo Rub
DayQuil/NyQuil
Mucinex
BreatheRight strips
Chloraseptic (for when I need to perform on a sore throat as a last resort)
Advil LiquiGels
Tylenol
Zantac

For other issues: bandaids/neosporin, Benadryl (pills and spray), thermometer, and Kleenexes. I also know how to make salt gargles, and I have a home remedy for croupiness. I have tea, but I generally just drink that because I want to, not because I’m sick. I chug Simply Orange like none other when I’m sick.

add some hand sanitizer like Purell to your list…so you don’t keep reinfecting yourself! Actually, you should keep some in your back pack and use it often…it may help keep your from getting sick in the first place.

Another idea is some tea bags in your favorite flavors…a cup of tea is very soothing if you have the chills or a sore throat. Or some instant hot chocolate, if you prefer.
