I'm a male incoming freshman and I plan to revamp my wardrobe. I have set aside $2000 for new clothing and accessories. Should this amount suffice if I'm looking at AE, Gap, Abercrombie type stuff?

What essentials should I be lookin at? Thanks.

Also, should I shop with girls so they could help me pick out stuff or should I go by myself or with friends?

hahhahaha, why do u wanna dress all prep, just dress like a baller with the sean juan i mean sean john, and rocawear. lol i kid, be yourself when u go to college,

Ok, so if you have to wear "dress clothes" because of school policy, go for JCrew collared button-up shirts that have stripes. Buy colors - green, orange, blue, pink (only real guys can handle pink). Buy the plad pants and shorts because those are so hot and if I were a guy, I'd live in them.
If you don't have to look like your going to the office, buy polos because they're classy and casual. Obviously go for colors. Wear khakis with pockets, ie, cargos. Buy pants that are different colors, and defineitely buy those plad and sweet J. Crew pants/shorts. Don't buy anything that looks "shiny."

Accessories? Do boys wear accessories? Jewelry for guys is lame. No necklace or other BS. Tatoos are dirty. A joint may look sweet, depending on your crew. I guess belts are safe? Shoes - man uggs if you get the right ones, otherwise you'll look like such a tool. Watches are fine but with cell phones, who needs 'em?

If you shop with girls, don't shop with girls who you want to get with because you should want them to think that you have style - with or without their help. Don't shop with parents becasue they're too opinionated. Shop with friends, I guess, or just anyone that has an opinion and that isn't really boring.

Yeah, I'm very shallow when it comes to my threads. haha.

Uhh, I'd save that $2000 and buy myself some sweet video game consoles and games, if I were a guy.

Otherwise, shop with any gay male friends you're comfortable with. In my experience, they are generally the best-dressed and will know what you should wear.

mrnewbooty, i'm guessing you're a bubba sparks fan, one piece of advice don't use that name while you're in high school or public, you will be mocked extensively if you do.

as to the wardrobe, it sounds gay to be asking this online. Narnia the lion the witch, and the wardrobe, lol i just couldn't help it.

lastly i would reccomend shopping at american eagle, its cheaper that abercrombie and lacoste, or polo.

i say 2000 isnt near enough if you want a good wardrobe. Since guy's things are a lot cheaper, about 100 for jeans, 30 for a regular shirt, 80 for a polo I guess? but blow everything on: Abercrombie & Fitch, J.Crew, Lacoste, Ralph Lauren. too bad juicy couture for guys looks horrrible. And shop with girls, most guys have zero taste

Ooh...$2000? Nice (though I would probably end up saving it, haha). Cornerstones has nice suggestions...as a female, I'm seconding the lack of accessories for guys, though make sure you have a nice belt and a nice watch. Get sunglasses if you'll use them, otherwise there's no point. Go for a mix of nice stuff and casual stuff, you'll need the nice stuff sometime, I promise. Gay guys do in fact tend to be the best-dressed, but shop for what you want, not for what your friends think looks good, otherwise you'll never wear it anyway. Get at LEAST one nice pair of khakies. Oh, and I hope you're not still growing...otherwise that $2000 could go down the drain VERY quickly.

Be careful when shopping with some girls, because many of them will try to make you dress like your gay (although if you are thats fine :) ). Personally there is no way I could spend 2k on clothing. Go to freaking SALES! Seems like a waste of money.

AE and Abercrombie are not upper class prep. If he was he'd be going to neiman marcus for all his clothes. I do suggest going there and getting a good pair of sunglasses--armani and gucci have good pairs for guys.

and wanting to wear high fashion clothes does not make you gay it has to do with the enviroment in which you live and what school he is going to, although i will admit its a wierd place to ask for advice.
