Okay, since I'm starting the college stuff soon like taking College Board AP/SAT tests and applying for fin aid, should I start to create email addresses for each category?

I don't know how many I should make because I like to organize things. Do you need a email that you contact colleges with; do you put one on your app so they can contact you and tell you if you've been admitted?

I'm guess I should have one just for colleges, one for fin aid, and one for tests.. but I'm not sure if I should have more/less. Any suggestions?

Also, should I just try to make my name as simple as possible like firstname.lastname@domain.com , or first.middle.last@domain. Is gmail an "acceptable" domain name? Better than yahoo or hotmail? :)

"Is gmail an "acceptable" domain name? Better than yahoo or hotmail? "

Of course not. Gmail addresses automatically raise the ire of all east coast admins and you'll start the entire process behind everyone else. I've heard that the West coast schools aren't so irritated. I read about it on a thread just yesterday.

LOL: sorry, just having a little fun at your expense. No one pays attn to this unless your domain is something outrageous.

You should just keep a single email addy for all your college communication. To split btn general, FA and tests -- can only lead to confusion.

ENJOY your senior year ... it'll be the last time you're ever in 12th grade. It's not just a step towards college. Relax a little. Breathe. Go out and take a stroll around the park.

So I should just create 1 account for all SAT testing, college admissions, and financial aid? Does anyone have another method of organizing these? What domain names do you guys think would be the best for organizing these emails?

For gmail, is it possible to create another folder to store the emails in? Right now I only know that you can organize your emails in labels.

It might be wise to wise to have an email that's more professional (firstname.lastname@gmail.com) just so it reflects better upon yourself. The domain doesn't really matter at all; any of the standard ones are ok.

To organize emails, I like to use MS Outlook or Thunderbird. Gmail works with these programs, so I just have multiple gmail addresses.
