Creating own major...

Hey all, I'm working on the supplement right now and I notice that I am supposed to write down what major I'm anticipating on majoring in. I really like Urban Studies, which isn't offered at CM, but I think I could probably create it. Should I just write "Urban Studies (interdepartmental)" under the H&SS heading?

Thanks!

I think it's better to pick the closest major, then write your essay about your love for urban studies.

The problem with creating a major is that you won't have as much staff support, and will have to work out a course schedule that would earn you the degree. Why not major in something other than urban studies and then say that you specialize in that field? It's much better to get a generalized degree with specialization later in your undergraduate career and in your graduate career.

I think a decision science or policy major would be the right direction. Urban studies sounds like graduate-level work.
