Creating Polls

In the FAQs:

there is no “Yes! Post a poll” checkbox at the bottom of the page. Has it been disabled or something?

Yes, this option is disabled site wide.

Why ?

We do very few polls, and try to keep them on topics of broad interest.

I hope you reconsider this decision. Polls are tremendously useful and can cover a broad range of topics, from chance threads to “which school is more prestigious for business” and many more that I haven’t listed.

I agree with sfgiants.

I, too, agree with sfgiants. Polls enable people to see the results of a 27-page debate at a glance rather than reading through the whole thread. Plus they may encourage people to join the forum (so they can respond to the polls) if the polls are members-only.

I agree with all of the above posters. Is there some technical reason why polling has been disabled?

I definitely agree.
I would love to have polls.

I agree.

we all agree. but will they be enabled?

Well, why don’t you get together and create a poll and see how much interest there really is…oh, um, nevermind.

^ lol. that sounds like a good Idea.
But I do think that they might get out of hand…not to the extent of 10 polls a day though.

if they do enable polls, they should do it in all the forums except the Cafe. Otherwise, there will be a number of useless polls like “Do you like Nesquik or Ovaltine?”

if you look at the example poll is the TOS, you’ll see that they said: “What is your favourite color?”
But they shouldn’t be put in the cafe.

Have they done it before? Maybe it got out of hand a long time ago, or something…

PROTEST!

if it doesn’t exist why don’t you delete that FAQ?

maybe they haven’t gotten around to it. That and the “who’s online” thing. And the public groups.

Bumping this. I would like to have this addressed. Even if the answer is no, I think it’s fair to get an explanation.

I think thinkthat they just haven’t gotten around to it all. But what do I know?
