Creative Arts

Is it necessary for people to study the creative arts?

hmm. IMO if math is a creative art, as defended by this essay: http://www.maa.org/devlin/LockhartsLament.pdf , I think it is quite necessary since math is so cool and stuffz.

This is a rather creative thread topic.

I agree. It is necessary. The art of producing creative thread topics.

I’m going to assume you took the SAT today…

And no, they are not necessary, but can be a benefit to you.

I think you took the SAT.

And I said yes.

I think people should be involved in some sort of expression activity, be it painting or as that excellent essay puts it, math. We shouldn’t be robots :/

Nothing is necessary per-say.

I didn’t think so, but I’m worried that certain others will disagree. I think that it’s a bad question.

ETA: It’s not that I don’t like creative arts, in fact I love them, I just couldn’t think of any solid reasons to have them in school.

“Nothing is necessary per-say.” FYI, Per se is Latin. =)

My reasoning was that you need to know how to think creatively. If you want to be able to problem-solve real world issues, you need to be able to creatively think. You can’t do that if you only study math, science, and history.
