Does anyone know anything of the creative writing courses offered at Smith?
I know that they have a poetry concentration but is it possible to create my own minor or major based in creative writing
I had read in past posts on this site that the department is weak and you shouldn't come to Smith if you want to write creatively.
can anyone try and confirm or deny this?

Or does anyone have any tips regarding creative writing at Smith? How to pursue it?

i did a summer writing program there. one of my ta’s who does the minor says its really easy to complete. she said that the writing community is great but the offerings are not and that she wished she considered that when she transferred (from Bucknell, where the writing program was great and its community was terrible. she left because she didn’t really fit in overall.)
I would respectfully disagree. My daughter has taken several creative writing courses. They regularly feature nationally known authors teaching these classes and over the years have included Kurt Vonnegut among others teaching these classes.
