I'm trying to keep ALL my options open.
i don't care so much where I go to school as long as I can do what I wanna do you know?

But I'm also considering creative writing as a major (and yeahi know you can't do much but it'll be a fun way to get a degree, and challenging...but if you like the material, you'll be more apt to do it, eh?)

(oops i'm not canadian either!)

So do you know of any UC's that have creating writing?
Thanks! :)

I’ve been looking into that a bit myself. I’m a Psych major, but want to supplement that with either an English minor a creative writing program. I know Cal has a creative writing minor, UCSD has a Literture/Writing major, UCSB a Creative Studies in Literature (?) and ya UCR, but I don’t think I would go there… I’m also looking at USC’s Creative Writing program, it’s suposed to be really good.

the truth is they all offer atleast some form of creative writing, yet it differs from campus to campus.

uci is known for having one of the best MFA programs in creative writing. keep in mind that’s graduate level, but i’m sure their undergrad is pretty damn good.

in my opinion, ucsd and ucr are probably the best for getting serious practice with you’re writing because they offer actual writing majors, while most of the other UC’s offer English majors w/ an emphasis in creative writing( in other words, your an english major + 3 creative writing workshops). At UCSD and UCR i know they offer workshops each quarter in all areas of writing, from short fiction and poetry, to creative nonfiction, novel writing, screenwriting, etc.

At the end of the day tho, it really doesn’t matter too much when it comes to creative writing…

actually, it’s better to be dirt poor bc they give you more need based financial aid $$, rather than if you have some money, they expet you to use every last penny then get financial aid
