I would be surprised if Harvard's creative writing courses do not offer credit, but I was browsing the creative writing portion of the English department (http://www.fas.harvard.edu/%7Eenglish/programs/creativewritingprogram.htm) and came across this statement:

"Please note that the department does not offer an MFA or other graduate degree, credit, or graduate seminars in creative writing."

Which can be stripped down to: "Please note that the department does not offer ... credit ... in creative writing."

Also, each creative writing course must be separately applied to. However, the upside is that undergraduate students, who are given priority, can work along with graduate students, staff, and students from other institutions eligible for cross registration.

I wouldn't mind taking courses that aren't for credit, but if one is taken in addition to a full Harvard course load as well as a few extracurricular activities, it might get a little crazy; and if one doesn't take a reasonably full course load, it may take longer than four years to earn a degree. Am I reading that statement incorrectly? Does Harvard actually not offer any creative writing courses for credit?

If someone could clear up the issue or offer insight, I would appreciate it!
