Hi! I know that the Brown arts supplement is totally optional, but I’m considering sending a short creative writing supplement. I know it might not have much bearing, but considering I’ve won Scholastic keys, been featured in lit mags, done readings, etc and I’m featuring CW as a central part of my app I feel like it would help.

Currently considering:
a. A prose poem that I wrote freshman year, a little rough but definitely attention grabbing, won a regional gold key for it
b. An imitation Emily Dickinson poem, served as opening piece for the school lit mag last year
c. A short story that according to my CW teacher is “one of my strongest.” It’s almost 10 pages double-spaced.
d. Either another short story or another essay. Potentially a really heartbreaking one that I wrote sophomore year about my mother’s struggle with cancer.
e. Another very short poem.

My questions for you:
Is this too much to submit?
If it is, which ones should I consider cutting?
Is it a good idea to feature things from different years?
Is a ten-page story too long/should I excerpt it?
Is it even worth sending an arts supplement?
