Creative Writing

What are the best women's colleges for a creative writing major or concentration?

Anyone?

I’ve heard Sarah Lawrence is good. Not all women, but @71%.

Here is some info about CW at Mount Holyoke, Smith and Wellesley:
MHC: https://www.mtholyoke.edu/acad/english/writing
Smith: http://www.smith.edu/english/creative-writing.php
Wellesley: <a href=“Creative Writing | Wellesley College”>http://www.wellesley.edu/english/creativewriting

The Smith English Dept web site lists 2 department liaisons who are seniors who answer questions from majors and prospective majors. Both of the ones listed have been involved with creative writing, so you might want to email them with questions about the program at Smith and the other resources within the Five Colleges (this info would also be applicable for MHC).

Bryn Mawr has a really stellar CW program. It’s offered as a minor and concentration or independent major. The program has amazing faculty and a reading series that brings noteworthy writers to campus (like Karen Russell and Zadie Smith). I took a few courses in the CW dept, but also took a couple journalism classes at Penn. Between the two schools, there are a lot of really great resources at your disposal.

Kenyon
Oberlin
Brandeis
Utah

Thank you for your suggestions. (Honestly, I’m kind of in love with BMC but don’t know if I’ll be able to get in, I feel like a lot of the sisters may be reaches for me at best, are there any women’s colleges in the south that might come close in terms of a quality creative writing program?)

Ask here: https://www.awpwriter.org/

Here’s their writing programs search tool: https://www.awpwriter.org/guide/guide_writing_programs

Wellesley

If BMC is a reach, then Wellesley will definitely be a reach.

These programs aren’t in the South, but they might be of interest–Sarah Lawerence and Boston University.
