Creative Writing

Hello, I was researching and was looking at Cornell’s writing program. Could any parents or students share any opinions about the program? Thanks

Creative writing is a minor at Cornell. I know a couple people who have found it a good minor to fulfill, if not to complement their major then to at least just explore something they found interesting. I took the intro to creative writing class, which is hit or miss because you could have any one of a large number of teachers – usually grad students. It was an okay class but I’m not sure it made me a significantly better writer.

Thanks for your feedback  @Ranza123

My daughter was a dual English/Film Major at Cornell with a focus on Creative Writing. She is now getting her masters at Columbia in Creative Writing Once she advanced past the introductory course work she found the classes and professors to be excellent.

Wow! Thats awesome! Could you tell me more about it? @JMDP82

I can’t give you much detail as I was not the one who was in the program. I do know that once she was in the creative writing concentration she found the professors very helpful. The fact that she is continuing to pursue a masters is a great reflection that Cornell kept her passion alive. Like anything else at Cornell it is up to the individual to take advantage of the people and resources that are available.
