Credit and placements?

Hey guys!
I'm Joan from Ireland. :)

I'm sponsored for Mechanical Engineering for only 3 years.. So I was wondering, is there any placement exams for me to cut out classes? If so, how many can I cut out? :D

Thanks in advance!

You will take placement tests during NSO for math and chemistry, and your SAT reading + English grades in high school are used to place you into classes. For engineering, you’ll either be placed into math 140 or math 41. Math 140 is calc for engineers and hard sciences, math 41 is a preparatory class for math 140. Chem will probably place you into Chem 101 or Chem 110, (you’d want 110). And you have to take an English regardless. I don’t know if you can place above Chem 110 and Math 140 in the tests. You might be able to, but it’ll be very difficult. Math 140/Chem 110 are two of the hardest classes the school offers.

If you’re trying to graduate in 3 years, you could try to read this: <a href=“How to Graduate from PSU in 3 Years”>https://onwardstate.com/2013/03/22/how-to-graduate-in-3-years/

You’re looking at overloading on credits and/or taking summer credits. Unless you have a huge swath of AP/CLEP/IB credits coming in with you
