Credit Cards for Freshman

Kosha - that's really weird.. mines a Capital One card and it counted on my report. Maybe they screwed something up on your sons?

I haven't viewed my credit report in awhile (probably not since last year), but the last time i did it said i had five years of established credit, and i'm only 22 right now..

Signed D up with Bank of America for her checking account, and their student account allows for a bank debit/credit card. If student's school is participating with BA then they get free checking, as well. That should solve any problems for the older kids who can't get just a credit card. They just need to change banks and it comes with the account.

D' school has the same set up with BofA at her school. BofA also has a student Visa which your student can apply for. She did not use a credit card during freshman year because she has a visa debit card tht she used for all of her on line purchases. She applied for and received her own visa this year through my company's credit union (which she will use fro emergincies ex: trip home)

i'd just like to point out that i got my credit report today and it definately counted my capital one card. my rating was excellent, so i was happy :)
