Credit expiration

Hello i'm curious about my credits and how they expire. I have an associates degree from a community college in math and science(computer science major) which took me 3 years and i took a year off. I heard that credits "expire" after 7 years although i've heard that credits besides computer classes don't expire. If i take another year off before transffering making it 5 years since i started my major, 2 years since the completion of it, does that mean i have to finish my degree at a 4 year within 2 years? Am i "safe" or would they renew in a sense at the 4 year school if i transfer before they expire? Would i be able to complete the last remainding junior and senior year at my own pace instead of 2 years?

This question is extremely college-specific. There will be some colleges that have no expiration dates for their courses (computer or otherwise) and there will others that may have some sort of window of time that makes the computer/technical courses “expire”. However, even in that latter category, how a college approaches it, the rules and exceptions, will differ.

The only thing you can do is contact the actual college/s in question and ask these detailed questions. Anything we post here on CC would be generic and not useful to your specific situation.
