Hello i'm curious about my credits and how they expire. I have an associates degree from a community college in math and science(computer science major) which took me 3 years and i took a year off. I heard that credits "expire" after 7 years although i've heard that credits besides computer classes don't expire. If i take another year off before transffering making it 5 years since i started my major, 2 years since the completion of it, does that mean i have to finish my degree at a 4 year within 2 years? Am i "safe" or would they renew in a sense at the 4 year school if i transfer before they expire? Would i be able to complete the last remainding junior and senior year at my own pace instead of 2 years?

College credits don’t expire like food or medicine. Those records are with you for life.

That said, it is entirely up to the college or university that you transfer to (or return to study at after an absence) whether or not your old credits can be used for something. You really do have to ask at each college and university on your list. Some will accept many more credits than others.
