For those who are already in Kelley ...does Indiana give credit to preadmits in Kelley for AP Stats?

No, AP Stats credit won’t transfer for any of the classes that meet the statistics requirement within Kelley.

Can the Stat credit be used toward graduation?

I have the same question. A 4 or 5 on AP stats exam gives you credit for Stats 300 but for core requirement (Breadth of Inquiry: Natural & Mathematical Sciences) you need to take stats 100. Dont understand why they dont accept that

S300 will satisfy the N&M requirements. However, your M118 and M119 will serve the purpose. Therefore, S300 does not help you to satisfy the Kelley graduation requirement. But, if you are aiming for the accounting major, it may help you to achieve the 150 credits expected from many accounting firms. And, your future registration date may move up.

So if one is not going to be an accountant, is there a point in taking the AP stat exam?

^^*correction. Major in accounting…realize there are other career options…

150 credits is only required for a CPA.

If you do major in accounting, you should plan to have 150 credits at graduation. Otherwise, you won’t even be able to get on-campus interviews from the top accounting companies, including the Big Four firms and most of the regional firms. And you don’t want to graduate without a full-time offer and have to find a job on your own, especially in accounting, as all the good companies hire new accountants almost exclusively through on-campus interviews.

Most accounting majors also major in finance, which, together, require about 131 credits minimum to graduate. But you will need 150 credits to interview on-campus with most good accounting firms for audit and tax positions.

If you want to see requirements for full-time and internships for accounting jobs on-campus interviews, go to the Kelley USCO website. Sign in, then click on

Students >> Jobs & Internships >> Weekly CSJ Archive

Then download the four editions from September 2012 for job descriptions/minimum qualifications. Most interviewing for accounting jobs takes place the first two weeks of Octobers, so nearly all the accounting positions show up in September lists.
