I wanted to ask anyone who knows...If you apply in the fall of lets say, 2009, and your GPA is a 3.8 as of the end of Fall '09, and then by the end of spring 2010 it's up to a 3.9, do they take into account your improvement in the spring or are the decisions already made by then? In short, does the progress you make in the spring-before-enrolling matter, or is it to late for the school to take that into account?

Usually it's too late. Many decisions are sent out in May, so at most, spring mid-term grades are taken into account. I had my D send in unofficial final grades from spring semester, but her school ended the 3rd week in April, and that's pretty unusual. I also don't know if they were taken into account by the transfer schools.

I'd say for most schools it won't come into account. But I believe the UC (University of California) system has a bit of an update feature, so they can be informed of the latest class grades before decisions are mailed. Could be wrong though.
