Hi there,

I'm a college sophomore studying video game development going to school on Pell Grants. Over the course of the spring semester, one class in particular has really kicked me all semester long. I plan to drop the class before the cutoff date for being able to drop it with just a 'W' on my transcript. Currently I am only taking 12 credit hours, and dropping the class would leave me at 8 credit hours. I want to know how that will impact me overall in regards to my financial aid and my Pell Grants in the future.

My school's financial aid requirements require me to have a 2.0 GPA (which I have met with a 3.1 GPA) and at least a 66% credit hour completion rate (also met with a 100% completion rate which would be reduced to a 90%). Even dropping the class, I would still meet my school's financial aid requirements. I want to know if there are any adverse effects to my Pell Grants if I go through with this. I do plan on taking at least 12 hours next semester. The financial aid people at my school tell me, it will be fine, but I just want some verification and a second opinion is all. Thanks.
