I’m going to be a Freshman next year at the University of Iowa, and double majoring in International Studies and Spanish. I’m trying to at least make a rough plan of what courses I would like to take, and I’m not sure if the course load will be too heavy with all that I want to take. Right now, I have it at 18 s.h. Which I know is on the edge of being too much. This is what I have so far, with Portuguese and Orchestra being “optional” classes that I would still really want to take.
5 s.h.–SPAN: 1502- Intermediate Spanish II
5–PORT:2000 or 3–PORT:2010- Accelerated or Elementary Portuguese
3–IS: 2000- Intro to IS
1–IS:1000- Designing IS major
1- MUS: 3180 or 1180-- Orchestra
3–GEOG:2910- The Global Economy
The only reason I would be taking Accelerated Portuguese is because I have taken Spanish for 5 years, and the two languages are similar.
