My goal is to double major in Computer Science and Graphic Design in four years. Given my AP credit, it's possible, but it means I can't fall behind at all. Let's just say that due to several unfortunate exam grades, it's looking like I'm going to have to drop Physics and take it again next year. However, does anyone know if ND allows students to take classes elsewhere over the summer? I know ND offers a summer session but I have an internship back home and would like to take a Physics course (let's just assume I can find one that fits my schedule) at a college closer to my house.

I can’t answer specifically for Computer Science, but generally required courses for your degree cannot be taken elsewhere. Even if you are allowed to take a course elsewhere, you need to get approval from your dean before you take the course in order to receive credit. Since you’ll have to get your dean’s approval anyway, it’s probably best to ask him or her.

Notre Dame can give you transfer credit for courses taken not in residence. You ought to, as mentioned above, get approval from your dean beforehand.

I did this for a few French courses taken at the University of Portland over the summer a year ago without any issue.
