Credit/Recognition for self studying AP's?

Last year I self studied APES, got a 5 on the test, and that was that. This year, I plan on self studying for two more. My question is; how will colleges know that I took these courses? My school uses Naviance, although under "AP scores" it does not mention that I self studied for APES. Should I bring this up to my guidance counselor, and ask her to add my score? Furthermore, should I ask for "Environment Science (AP)" to be added to my official high school transcript under course I have taken? I put in the extra time after school, so it essentially became an independent study. Does anyone have any experience with this? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

College knows that you self-studied a course by comparing AP Score Report to your transcript. That is what I assume. Even if you self-study or not, you could still receive college credit by sending AP Score Report to the college you’re going to. You could go up to counselor to add the score to your transcript for security.

thanks, I am definitely going to ask her to add my scores!

Some colleges, such as MIT, (not sure about Common App but I think you can as well…) allow you to self-report your AP scores. Hence they compare that with your transcript, as jerrry said, and realize that you self-studied :)

yea ask to add if getting admission is that important to you.

Once you are in college you simply send in the little ap score card to the admission office and they give you credit for your ap scores. They could careless if you took a course or not.
