Is there a minimum amount of credits needed to transfer to another college?

Another Q: If after I enroll at a certain college-could withdrawing enable me to attend at another college as a freshman?

Usually yes; it may depend on the school.

Provided you don’t take any courses at the school before withdrawing, then yes, I think you’ll be fine.

It depends A LOT on the college.

From what I’ve seen, public universities tend to prefer transfer students with many credits. (For example, some will only consider transfer applicants with 2 years of transferable credits satisfying most of the graduation requirements.) Private universities in contrast seem to prefer transfer students with fewer college credits. (My own college accepted transfer students with 1-4 semesters of previous college coursework. The fewer the better. Transfer students who had completed more than 2 semesters elsewhere could not study abroad or take summer classes elsewhere because of the residency requirement.) Of course there are exceptions.

If you have a specific target college in mind, read their transfer admission policy.

If you withdraw before you earn any credits, yes. Once you finish one semester of college coursework as a full-time student, most colleges would consider you a transfer applicant.

One more thing, which may or may not be relevant to you:

If you are an international student and financing college is a concern, you should be aware that there’s almost no financial aid for international transfer students. If you plan to transfer, assume that you’ll have to pay the full cost of attendance of the 2nd college.

Thanks for the quick replies, n yeah fin aid is not a problem. However what if I attended the first college as a ‘pre-college’? I’m really confused about that whole thing. The current college I’m attending is in my home country and a branch of Broward, which used to be a community college btw.
