I was just wondering if anybody had any idea if there is a minimum number of credits that USAFA will accept when you send them a college transcript. Right now in this semester, I have 13 credits at RPI, with Calculus 2, Physics 2, Pyschology and an Engineering Course. Is this too little? The minimum at my school to be considered a full time student is 12 credits, so I’m above that. Earlier this semester, I had 17 credits, with an upper level Aeronautical engineering course rounding out the list. I have since dropped it and am beginning to think that they may look unfavorably on this (and therefore rescind my conditional appointment.)

Also, I called my Admissions counselor to ask her, and she said that as long as I’m a full time student, all they look at is the classes that you took and how you did, not how many you took (for some reason, I don’t think she understood what I was asking, though). I still don’t feel comfortable even after she told me this, so I wanted to see what everyone here thought/knew about it.

I know for USNA they look favorably on your transcript if you take a courseload comparable to Plebe Year.

During my first quarter here at UW, I took 18 credits. Calc 1, Chem 1, Naval Science, and Military History of the US. I'm also in the NROTC Unit on scholarship. I got a 3.33 GPA.

I recently heard that I'm 'qualified to compete' but have not received an LOA or appointment.

Well, I would be worrying a lot more if I didn't have an appointment yet. I'm just wondering if they will look at 13 credits unfavorably (because it may be lower than suggestions that I don't know about) and perhaps do something very bad (take away my appointment or something).

Assuming that the courses you are taking are all ones that are equivalent to ones here, you should get credit for all of them when you come in here. I was able to get out of 2 semseters of calc and chemistry for a total of 12 free credits. The max that they will allow you to get for "free" is 15 hours, but if you have taken more classes, you can get out of them if they are a core requirement without receiving any additional hours.
