Crew?

Haha I agree, Kent’s crew is ridiculous.

incase anyone from andover is on…im doing crew next year, starting this summer. haha disregard this message if you dont care

Check out how close the race for second (and a trip to Nationals) was…

CREW

haha i’m a coxswain  sometimes being 5’3" 105 lbs means you get to steer the boat and scream at people

crew is indeed a cult. respect it.

OMG, I love crew. This summer, I’m doing crew camp with the Three Rivers Rowing 'cause I really want to do it in boarding school. Since I’m going into eight grade, I think next summer I’ll probably do youth crew league to help my chances of doing crew. I love rowing in Pittsburgh, so many rivers and not enough time!

wow you’re way ahead of the game. most people that join crew haven’t done it before (just because it’s such an obscure sport most places), so you’re off to a very good start.

izzy: im thinking about doing crew(which means giving up softball :()
anyway i wanted to know is it hard to like adjust to the rigorous workout of being on crew?

Is there a weight limit on crew? I heard it was 135 pounds or somewhere around that.

@A7X Forever=): i only rowed for about 2 weeks before i switched to coxing, but in general, the workouts are EXTREMELY tough. So the transition depends on how fit you are to begin with- if you run five miles a day, it’ll be no problem; if you’re a couch potato (ahem), it’ll be very difficult to get used to. Most people are somewhere in between.

As far as weight limits go, I’ve never heard of one nor do i understand why there would be one (except for coxswains, which are small as a rule). However, every crew program has its own standards and this may be true for yours (once again, i can’t see any conceivable benefits to having a weight limit on rowers beyond perhaps keeping sizes roughly equal within boats for the set, but even then 135 wouldn’t be the limit. If anything, there would be a MINIMUM weight- rowers that are too small are a problem [ahem]).

hope that helps!

For Coxwains, there might be a weight limit… they’re the one’s who steer the boat, so they are, otherwise, deadweight.

yeah, coxes are generally small, though that’s not a hard and fast rule- a really good coxswain can be larger than the average coxswain.

I understand (depending on the league) there is a minimum weight limit failing which the coxes have to put on weights. I think it’s 105 but not sure, probably less.

I’m beginning crew next year!!! at public school… Oh well. But we do have a pretty good team, we got 6th in the nationals! woot. Well, this has nothing to do with boarding scools…unless it would make a good ec? But it will be my first year? whateves.

MALVADO!

What, your public school has crew. The public schools near me barely have decent football teams…wow it must be a whole different world up in the Northeast.

How can you tell whether someone is good/talented or not in crew since everyone is doing the same thing (I think…)?

SPS won the Henley Royal Regatta ( princess elizabeth) in 2004 here is the link [2004 Princess Elizabeth](http://www.hrr.co.uk/pdisp.php?pid=171) you can search thru the archives and look up the princess elizabeth catagory to find the winners over the past few years most of the wins have been won by UK crews
