I've been playing cricket for a long time now, i'm a junior in high school so i'll apply to colleges next year and I'm wondering if I can get a scholarship for cricket. Does anyone have any experience with this? I know that you can play cricket in colleges, even the really good ones like the ivies. Any feedback would be cool.

No scholarships exist for Cricket in the USA. It’s a niche activity – only happens on the club level.

Haverford is the only college in the country with varsity cricket, but as a D-3 school they don’t offer athletic scholarships. Talk to the coach, though. If you’re good (as in world-class good) it could help you get admitted, and they have good need-based aid.

Everywhere else it’s a club sport.

Haverford? Cool!

Haverford!!!

oh well , i’m not like world-class good or anything, but i just wanted to see if it would help me get into a college. it’s not something i want to pursue professionally.

Seriously, check out Haverford cricket:

I don’t know whether your interest and experience in cricket would help you with admissions or not, but they take varsity sports pretty seriously and my impression is they value a good “fit” highly. If you’re competitive academically and passionate about cricket, that sounds like a good fit to me.

The cricket players at our local community college, Montgomery College, became an officially sponsored club after winning the first national intercollegiate championship two years ago.
