criminal justice

Hi
I'm a freshman planning on going to law school, and I just wanted to know if criminal justice would be fit for it.
It would be nice if someone who majored in criminal justice and got accepted to law school could give me a reply.

Thanks!

To some extent it depends upon the “level” of LSs you are aiming for, but generally speaking, majoring in criminal justice hurts you when you apply to LS.

Don’t do it. Other than a Prelaw “major” criminal justice is about the worst major you can have.

I know this isn’t really about what I started the thread for, but is econ. with a minor in philosophy considerable?
Thanks

all that matters is the LSAT and GPA, especially the LSAT. Dont let anyone tell you different.

So what are some good majors, that would help you get into Law school?

The short answer is no major is going to make much of a difference. Some engineering and hard science majors will help you in that law schools may give you a slight bump to your GPA, and some majors like criminal justice and “Prelaw” will ding you. (Poly Sci is not quite in this category but will do you no favors because of how many there are). But no major is going to make a huge difference. Pick something you enjoy that you can do well in, not something that will “help you get into Law School”.

Major in something you can get a job in later, in case you change your mind or do not get into law school

I know that some of you are saying majoring in Criminal Justice is a bad idea, but can you give reasoning behind that? I’m curious, because I’m in the same situation as the OP.

Thread on pre-law/ criminal justice will be of help.

would suggest purchasing 2 books:

Anna Ivey - THe Ivey guide to law school admissions
Richard Montauk- How to get in a top law school

The Montauk book the book is approximately 500 pages and gives a very comprehensive overview of the college process and discusses applications, essays, LSATs, majors, etc.

Chapter 8 of his book discusses Making the Most of Your Credentials, Montauk states:
