Criminology, Criminal justice Universities

Can you recommend a good University where I can study Criminology?

Note that criminology is a serious, interdisciplinary major, whereas criminal Justice is seen as more vocational, a preparation for working in corrections or law enforcement (police academy, etc.).
What are your stats (GPA, both w and UW; test scores; AP/in/aice/dual enrollment classes)?
What state do you live in?
What’s your EFC? Is your parents’ Budget similar to it?

John Jay College of Criminal Justice in NYC

so, what major would you recommend I enter if I want to be a detective, CIA, FBI, etc… I have a 3.5 unweighted GPA, and in my senior year. I’m in humanities and literature AP dual enrollment classes. I live in Illinois and want to go to an out of state college. And I don’t have information on my EFC at the moment, but I’ve been awarded $20k in scholarships, and my Dad is going to pay for the rest. I might want to start as a police officer, then try to get a job with the CIA or FBI, or maybe even a detective.

@kyriestatus4life , You should pick a major that interests you and would have use in the real world other than criminal justice. I am a Federal Agent and I graduated with an accounting degree. Most of my coworkers in Federal Law enforcement graduated with scientific, language or business degrees. A criminal justice degree will not qualify you for a higher position job.

The most important thing would be to learn a foreign language or two. Every one of our new hires is bilingual and is almost becoming a prerequisite.

Eastern Kentucky University

How about a history major? You’ll learn research and writing skills. Ask anyone in that profession. They write a ton of reports.
