Subject: Crimson Ride Route Changes Increase Efficiency for Passengers, UA

On Aug. 16, a number of route changes to the Crimson Ride bus system will take effect, designed to make the system more efficient and user-friendly as well as greener. The changes are based on findings from an outside consulting firm and input from faculty and staff, the student body, SGA, the Parking and Traffic Committee and other stakeholders.

In addition to simplifying the bus routes, the changes will allow for more buses on each route, reducing passenger wait times, and will result in less fuel consumption.

Crimson Ride changes include the following:

Reducing the total number of routes from eight to four. Crimson Ride now will offer one Crimson, one Gold, one Green and one Blue line (see map for route details [Route Maps](http://crimsonride.ua.edu/pages/maps.htm))

Eliminating the fixed bus route on weekends. Weekend service will be available through 348-RIDE(7433).

Adding a new weekend shopping route on Sunday from 1-6 pm, which will transport passengers to popular off-campus retail centers such as Target, University Mall and Midtown Village.

Crimson Ride users are urged to continue to take advantage of the TransLoc website, [CrimsonRide - Transit Visualization System](http://www.ua.transloc.com), which displays the movement of buses around campus in real time. TransLoc now offers a smartphone app also.
