Crisis! Despair! Low first semester GPA! Rescinded if accepted to UC?

`From 10-11 grade I had a decent UC GPA of 3.81. But this semester I managed 2 B’s and 4 C’s. Making my UC GPA of the semester 2.83. I am deeply saddened, The main reason for this was that I had a job that had me working 40 hours a week, and I could not quit due to financial reasons. Does this mean if I get accepted to a UC will I be rescinded? Does having high second semester grades balance this out or do they view GPA by semester rather than accumulative of the year? Would it be better if I take my chances with the CC system then transfer to my desired school?

Thank you in advance,
California High School Senior

The provisional admission contract in the past for all the UC’s except UCLA/UCB was to maintain an Weighted GPA of 3.0 and no D’s or F’s for the whole Senior year. For UCLA/UCB, they want a 3.0 Unweighted GPA and no more than 2 C’s Senior year so those 4 C’s will be a problem if accepted to these two schools. You still have 2nd semester to get your grades up to meet the UC’s provisional admission contract. Just no more C’s and definitely no D’s or F’s. Work hard to get those grades up.
