Criteria for exemption from Writing 5 at Dartmouth

Did anyone else just get this blank e-mail?

And what does it mean?

They send a weird attachment with it that you can download and open with notepad. It says that in order to be exempt from Writing 5, you have to either (a) have a 740 on both the CR and Writing sections of the SAT I or (b) have a 5 on either AP English test AND a 770 on the SAT CR section.

Can you still take it if you are exempt?

It is a good and beneficial class to take?

what about act?

the ACT won't help you. Only a combination of SAT and AP scores will get you exempted. They explicitly mention that such a combination is the only way to be exempt from Writing 5.

is writing 5 a good class to take regardless of whtehr you can be exempt from it?
