Criteria for Ithaca Honors Program

I know the program is limited to 100 students and you need to be invited to apply after being accepted. I would be interested in knowing basic stats from anyone accepted or declined including weighted GPA, SAT/ACT results, SAT II's scores, # of AP's and AP scores, etc., etc.
Also, please indicate what other schools with honors programs you applied. if accepted or not into Ithaca's honors program, where did you decide to go?

Interesting thread. Hope more people reply.
I was accepted into the honors program with a 3.85 (unweighted), 4.72 (weighted), 1820 SAT, 28 ACT, and 6 AP’s with the rest being honors classes. I was also an auto-admit to the honors program at American University. I applied to the program at UGA but didn’t get accepted.

D was accepted to honors. 3.8 GPA and 2180 SAT, many leadership roles, AP and IB classes.

She was also accepted to honors at American U and IU and a couple others.

Her package from Ithaca was good but not strong enough in the end. She has decided to attend Indiana University .

Honors is a great opportunity and definitely something I recommend! I was a part of it over the last four years and it really helped define my IC experience. Even if you aren’t invited to apply, you can usually petition your way in after you arrive at IC.

I actually was not invited to apply to the honors program, but sent them an email requesting them the let me apply anyway. I got in with an 1890 SAT, 730 math II SAT II, 680 literature SAT II, and 8 total AP classes, with a four on everything taken so far, and the rest honors classes. My unweighted GPA was a 93. I also did lots of extracurriculars with leadership activities.
I got into Northeastern, Boston University, and McGill (not honors) and Emerson and Drexel honors.
I’ve decided to go to Ithaca, and also received their leadership scholarship.

Has anyone else participated in the Honors Program? Would love to hear what you liked about the experience. Is there any financial benefit / award for being accepted? Thanks!

My D was not invited to the Honors program, despite a weighted GPA of 101, 2150 SAT, 33 ACT, top 5% of her class (24 out of 515), 7 APs (mostly 5s and a couple of 4s), 3 IBs (6 and 7s), the rest honors classes. Very heavy on the music activities. She is in the School of Music and I’ve found out since her acceptance that for some reason the music kids do not get offered the Honors program as often as other students. No idea why. They also do not get offered ANY academic merit money - the only merit money comes from the School of Music, which really ticks me off, as it totally negates all the work she did academically while keeping up the intense music stuff. She was offered honors at both SUNY Fredonia and the University of Maryland College Park (which is much more academically rigorous than Ithaca, as well as a more difficult admit), and received merit scholarships for academics AND music from both schools. Go figure. But Ithaca was the the best fit for her and she loves her violin studio teacher, so that’s what counts. She did end up with $18,000 in music scholarships and a few small grants. Absolutely loves it there.
