Critical language scholarship program

Anyone know how difficult it is to get into this program, for someone who wants to learn languages like arabic and farsi/persian it sounds awesome to me. Any other details from someone who went would be great

Sounds like a program that was going on a long time ago with Russian during the cold war.

Take an hour and try to speak a little Arabic, I dare you. Then you will see if it is even worth doing.

The program looks like a great opportunity, but there doesn’t seem to be any information for 2009-2010 applicants. Has it simply not been updated yet, or has the program been dropped?

I will be taking a summer class in it before college to see if I actually want to learn it. I do think it is a beautiful language and love the culture. It is supposed to be very difficult for an english spaeker, but I look forward to trying.

It is actually being expanded, I wondered if anyone tried it before.

I’ve been obsessively checking it because I want to apply to the beginning Turkish program. I hear the application’s usually due Nov 15, and the fact that it’s mid-October and not out yet is pretty odd…

I’m looking to apply for this for the Korean language program. They recently updated the site, and the application will be open from November 9th through December 18th! They’re also offering Japanese, which I’m currently learning

I was accepted to China for CLS yesterday, has anyone participated before? I’m curious about what the program is like, how good the language teaching is, etc.

Congrats to you Blondie08! Please keep us informed as you move through the process.

Congratulations Blondie08! I applied for it but I didn’t get it for whatever reason (probably because my university gets out so late. I’d like to hear about it more as well, as it I might try again in the future.
