I am using the Princeton review 11 practice test book. So far, the method that had worked fore for math and writing was to just focus on one subject a day. And today, Ive done some reading practice tests and noticed that I would get about 6-7 wrong per section EVERY time. The only time I get a couple or even none wrong is if the passage or the question is really easy. I have not seen any improvements from doing these practice test for critical reading unlike math and writing. Usually, I would just read through the explanation once and go read the line reference where the book says the answer is. I would understand explanation as to why the answer is so. So far, Ive used noitaraperp's method of going to line ref. questions and marking them. I usuall have trouble with the 2 short passages that has a lot of comparison questions as opposed to those long ones where the questions actually guide u through the passage.Any suggestions as to how to study for critical reading?

For the linked passages, I would say to take them one at a time. Read the first passage first, answer the questions pertaining to it and then do the same thing for the second one. When you finish both passages, you should get a better idea of the gist of what both the passages are saying, so you should be able to answer the tougher questions about both of them.

Im in the same boat as you by the way; it’s hard to increase your CR score and it just takes a bunch of practice. Don’t worry, your score should improve if you do all the CR sections in that book and go over the answers

^ I agree. Just take it slowly, one section at a time.

Try taking a few notes on the side of each short passage. For instance, if author 1 is against a certain idea and author 2 is for it, quickly write that down so when you are answering the questions you can keep straight who said what.

maybe tryy this

^I believe the OP said he was using that guide already.

To the OP:
Check out Silverturtle’s guide, and practice makes perfect
I’m also trying to improve my CR score. Good Luck to all of us!
