Critical Thinking Area 1B Required even after transfer??

I am attending UCI next week, but one of the advising counselors told me I haven't completed Area 1B (Critical Thinking) thus resulting in a Partial IGETC certification that I sent back in June; told me they needed a full IGETC. The counselor told me I can fulfill that requirement here by making an exception but I thought it was satisfied because I took an alternative course to Area 1B (which was English Literature); now I'm confused, so I still need to take Critical thinking and a upper div writing course too? what.....

can someone shed light on this?

Did you take that class in Spring?

I did not take Critical thinking in Spring but took English Lit in Spring, if I had known in a 2010 post couple months back that I could of took Critical Thinking the following summer and get my IGETC fully certified but just came across this information now :(

That’s what I mean. Did you send you request IGETC cert. and send your transcripts before that class posted final grades?

yeah of course I did, sent my Partial IGETC cert. and my transcript back in June/July (way after the end of Spring semester)

Well either way, you should go to your CCC’s office that deals with transcripts and IGETC certification and ask them ahy you were not fully certified if you met all for the requirements. And if they tell you it’s because of Area 1B, ask them whether the class you took certified it.
