I haven't written the actual essay yet, and I don't know the exact question that I will be responding to with this, but I've just been thinking of different possibilities and I would like to hear what some of you experts here think about this one.

I plan on writing an essay in the perspective of one of my personal belongings (atm I'm thinking my iPod...) and use that to reflect on who I am as a person and how I've changed and evolved over the years... If I'm using my iPod, then I'll most likely focus on the role of music in my life and how the types of music I listened to over the years in turn define my characteristics during the different phases of my life.

Gah, now that I'm reading over what I just summarized, it sounds kind of cliche... But we did an exercise somewhat like this in English class and I was really inspired by what I ended up writing and thinking about. So hopefully even if this is cliche, it has the potential to break free from the norm and be something that stands out?

And also, would it be too confusing if the "I" in the essay refers to my iPod rather than me? I'm also just worried that they might think I'm not focusing on me by not putting myself as the first person character in the essay.
